Catch Report July and Comments 2010

3rd July:

Just returned from Les Rivets so thought id post a quick report of the week.
Weather was over 30 degrees every day, we caught night and day regardless.
Had wives and children with us so fished early morning til 11ish then 6pm til 11ish at night. We did 3 full nights. There were 3 of us fishing and we had 42 fish, 3x 30s to 38, 6x high doubles, rest 20s.With more time on the bank i think we could have had quite alot more.Fished with various boilie over pellet and all types caught. All got into double figures for the week.
We had no problems with crays, only once when fishing in really shallow water. If i was going again in the near future i wouldnt be taking measures to combat them,we had mesh but never used it.
Regarding rules mentioned before: No leadcore leaders of any type to be used.
The fish have hard mouths(we dropped around 10 fish) so ultra sharp wide gap hooks and heavy leads around 4 oz got the better hook holds.
This is a fantastic venue, the house and pool are superb for the family, the lake and surroundings are stunning and the fish fight hard.
Thank you Adrian and Jenny for the work thats gone into the place and thanks Danny for being so helpful and for your good advice.
Just need to book for next year now.

10th July:

Had a great week caught 48 fish also lost 14, more than one right at the net.les rivets is a great set up especially if you got to take the wife lovely house refreshing pool all the comforts of home.although we saw plenty of crayfish was even getting the odd one in the landing net had no problem fishing at all danny seems to be getting to grips with them
i was supposed to be fishing alone for the week but my non fishing freind alan who didnt know a carp from a shark and always told me fishing was boring was hooked from the momment he saw my first fish a double common and he basiclly only left the bank for dinner and a bit of sleep so between me and dannny we got him 1 rod set up and he caught a 30+on his first day he managed to catch 8 fish all told including some high 20 s .i caught 39 fish 1 single 16 doubles 19 20s and 3 30s the biggest going 39.12 also 38.2 but by far the most impressive just for its sheer beuty and raw power was my 34.4 grass carp it was the first grassie i had ever caught but luckily i knew what to expect definatly my highlight all the fish were in mint condition and  were caught at swim 3 on fruit frenzy boillies supplied by les rivets amazing place hope to come back some day.

17th July to 31th July

The lake was booked for 2 weeks and the number of fish caught was about 70-80 bigest being a 34lb grass carp. Paul did not get on with our gravel swims at the lake so we are holding a poll for one month to get another anglers ideas re the swims and on the out come of this may change to wood chippings.
