Catch Report June and Comments 2010

Below are the catch reports for year 2010, we will include number of Anglers fishing the lake and were posible the bait they were using to catch.

5th June

One person fishing:

Catch report is not so detailed, but I will give you a quick rundown. In total I had 26 fish, give or take 1 or 2. Four of these were under 10 kg, 3 of these were over 15 kg and the majority was in between 10 and 15 kg. Photo-wise it was a bit of a miss. A nice common of 17 kg found its way out of the bag while photographing another fish, so thank you mr. ChubJ
. I guess Danny will have told you that. One other 15kg+ I had when there wasn’t anyone around to take pictures, so that one was put back immediately.

12th June

Comment from Les Rivets Adrian Here is Martins report, please note that fishing in the margins you will get some Crayfish problems, this is the first year this has surface. We have place nets out in the margins around the lake to reduce the numbers. Therefore some protection around you bait will be needed if fishing the shallow margins, and you should not use fish and crap flavour boiles.”

 Martins report.

I must say what a fantastic setting; the house and pool are near perfect; you could not wish for more. It was a real pleasure and the family had a great time. As you can see below it was a tough fishing week, conditions seemed near perfect: cool, windy with occasional rainy periods and cloud, however the fish had other ideas.

Crayfish

Before I comment on the fishing I should tell you that you have a real Crayfish problem: it is impossible to keep any unprotected bait in any depth of marginal water for any more than about 30mins. There is nothing worse than sitting behind rods wondering if you have any bait on your hair, then finding out you haven't. It would be a great help to your future clients if you could advise them to take some Reggie and Ronnie protection with them and perhaps additionally have some on site for anglers to buy. We made do with mesh provided by Grandmas pop socks!

Fishing Report

All but four of the fish were caught between 11pm and 4 am; the feeding spells were very short. Fishing during the daylight hours was dead; it seemed almost the entire populous of the lake was resident in the snags at the house end of the lake, the remainder being in the far corner adjacent to 5a. We made a conscious decision not to bivvy up in swim 10 as it seemed unethical to fish the snags at night and we thought it may also give one angler an unfair advantage. Most fish came from fishing at extreme long range, despite all of us keeping one close range rod on a bed of bait.

Noticeably nobody caught a 30

Tactics: We generally had a bed of bait on one rod consisting of pellet over Hinders French Mix/ maize with boilies, either Rum and Raspberry or Mainline Cell. Other rods were placed with the same baits(hinders etc) scattered around or PVA bags on roving rods . Hook baits were either of the boilies or maize, no one hook bait out performed the other
