Catch Report April and Comments 2010

Below are the catch reports for year 2010, we will include number of Anglers fishing the lake and were posible the bait they were using to catch.

March:

Last weekend of March 2 anglers fished from Friday 11pm to Sunday 3pm and had 14 fish and loss 4. The catch was made up as 2 * 29lb's , 6 * 30lb's to 35lb's and no fish under 22lb's.

Just got back today after a great week at Les Rivets. The trip started badly by following sat nav from Bolougne to Saint Fargau and ending up in downtown Paris DO NOT FOLLOW SATNAV from Boulogne to Les Rivets.

Come off the A16 and head for Ch De Gaulle Airport then follow sat nav. Arrived about 5 ish after getting the 6.30 ferry LD Lines.

First impressions are what a beautiful place. The House is absolutely delightful and provided superb accommodation for my family who stayed there.

We then spoke to Richard the bailiff and he gave us all the info we needed to select a good swim for me and my 13 year old son. Unlike Val Dore that just try to sell you food and give you no real help.

Only slept that night in the peg and got up at Sparrows to survey the lake and cast in at 10 ish. Alex (my son) had two fish that day a 25 lb and a 23lb mirror from the sluice.

I lost a big one, after fishing at 180 yards (had bait boat) that night.
The next night i went up to size 6 wide gape hooks and managed to get a 42 ,12oz and a 25 lb Mirror.
Decided to move peg on Richards advice on Tuesday morning to the one on the dam wall, this was to make sure i was at shorter range to the fish as the Lakestar was playing up.

Fished the rest of the week out from there and achieved the following results

The Bailiff Richard was our Mr Crabtree. He helped us so much with the finer detail of our fishing and that was just what we needed a helping hand.
We took corn hemp and Scopex squid liver plus boilies which caught all the fish. ( first one within 45 minutes), but when i return i will just use the Bailiffs pellets ( fishmeal) and the same boiles.
So in essence who ever goes to Les Rivets you are in for some top fishing, we have just booked to go back again on 22nd October and next year at the end of May.
PS i am so glad Crete lakes tried to rip us off and Maison Du Alc Blue sold up , it gave us a great week away fishing.

Just a quick reply to your email. I`ve already written a quick review and put it on Carp forum. What can I say? Top week.

We ended up with 36 fish, smallest 6lb,6doubles,26 twenties to 28.12,a scraper 30,32.12 and 44.But yes there were fish lost for various reasons ,in all I think we lost13-which wasn`t good. 

The fishery is lovely and you can see that you and Richard have invested a lot of time effort and love to make it what it is. The surroundings are fantastic as are the showers  and kitchen I would definitely like to come back and will get back to you on that at some stage soon.  

Richard is probably one of the best bailiffs i have met-and I’ve met a few! His knowledge of carping in general is amazing and i could spend hours talking to the guy. His knowledge of the lake, the fish and the lake biomass is fantastic and he will do his upmost to help all catch. I know his appearance may cause some people concern,but look  beyond this and you have a real jewel-lose him and i think you could have a big problem -he`s one  in a million! I wish you all the very best for Les Rivets, I think you`re onto a winner!

April 17th:

Three people fishing on the Lake:

10 fish in total comprising 3 doubles, 5  twenties and 2 thirties. The two thirties weighed 33lb 3ozs and 37lb 11ozs.  All were mirrors except 1 mint common of 25lb.

Between me and my dad we had 3 thirtys 7 twenties 6 doubles and one single.
