Les Rivets Stock



The lake has been fishing well and the fish have put on an average weight again of over 5lb from last year, the 37lb Mirror caught in 2009 has been caught in May, and June  2010 at 45lb which is a 8lb gain in weight. At the end of October 2010 we will do the same as last year and start the feeding program again of 2 tons of pellet to push the fish to the next level. The 20lb fish which were stocked at how being caught at an average of 25lb, if we get the same weight gains as 2009 we are looking at over 120 * 30lb in the lake by April 2011.

Lake record is now 51lbs 12oz caught on the 1st September 2010.

The lake had never been commercial fished before 2009 and was drained down in 2008 , and netted to remove all under size fish.  The stocking of the lake happened on the 29th January 2009 with over 300 Carp were added, their total weight equalled 2935 kg’s. The stocking was done by French Carp Supplies and now the lake holds Grass, Common and Mirror Carp.
		196 avg. 20lb’s, 64 avg. 25lb's, 25 avg. 30lb's, 4 avg. 33lb’s, 5 avg. 37lb's 5 Carp between 43lb to 47lb We have Grass Carp to 30lb, Mirror Carp to 43lb and Commons to 47lb. From October 2009 to March 2010 the lake was fed over 2 ton of pellets so to get the increase of weights we are looking for. In March 2010, 2 anglers from Friday night to Sunday 3pm they had 14 fish. 2 * 29lbs, 6 * 30lb's to 35lb. No fish under 22lbs.

These Carp are French Royals and have been chosen for their tone and colouring, using this strain we can expect fish under 40lbs to increase in weight by over 5lb's a year, the large fish will have a smaller growth rate but hopefully there will be a high 50 or even a 60lb fish in the fishery within the first 3 years.

Les Rivets also has a stocking program so that each December / January new stock will be added to the lake.

We have just confirmed our Fish stock order for December 2010 with French Carp Supplies for 30 * 30lbs ''Champagne' cross Royals'. As this year we have found some crayfish in the lake we will also be adding 5 MALE catfish average weight of these will be 8lks to keep these under control.
